Between Xohm's delayed launch, the FCC quiet period affecting the 700MHz auction winners, and no huge product announcements, CTIA this year was fairly uneventful. The only exception was Richard Branson's keynote, during which he announced Virgle, Virgin and Google's JV to the stars.
As April Fool's jokes go, it probably couldn't have been better, with Branson taking in the audience for the better part of 20 minutes before admitting that, well, no... there were no real plans yet to recruit pioneers, send an Ark to Mars, establish "Virgle City" and thus save the human race from possible extinction.
However, if you don't believe Virgle's protestations that it really is all a prank (no doubt to weed out the less enthusiastic applicants to the pioneer program), you can visit their site and fill out an application. Better hurry!
