On March 2 in Toronto I'll be attending a conference entitled "The Art of Marketing" with a speakers list that reads a bit like a Who's Who of popular marketing gurus, including Seth Godin, Dan Heath and Mitch Joel. Despite what has seemed like the drawn out death rattle of conference events like this over the past several years, this one has really caught my interest (and my wallet). How Much of an Expert do you Need?

I was asked the other day whether or not I would turn a potential client away if I wasn't an expert in the field I was being asked to write in.  It's an interesting question, because it goes right to the reason why so many outsourced communication projects are only marginally successful at best, particularly in more complex industries.

The Problem with Convergence?

The vision of convergence -- anytime, anywhere communications -- has been the holy grail of the telecom industry for almost 20 years in one form or another. Converged services combine voice, data and video and deliver them across a span of public, private, wired and wireless networks in a way that is seamless and consistent to the end user.  The problem with holy grails is not so much that they're so hard to find, but what we might miss out on while we're looking for them.
